The Electric Company

Does anyone remember "The Electric Company"?

No, I don't mean the people who keep your lights turned on. I'm talking about a kids show that aired from 1971-1977.

The show taught spelling to children. It was so entertaining, children who normally didn't enjoy reading were drawn in by the fun skits and bright graphics.

Morgan Freeman was one of the main characters and my favorite. I love the funky clothes he wore.

Bill Cosby was a regular. I saw a documentary on PBS the other night about the show. It turns out Bill Cosby did the show for his thesis. He was working on his masters at the time.

OMG...Josh and I was talking about this the other day...I told him about MF getting his start on the Electric Company and he thought I was crazy...I remember watching this in school every day...

Do you remember when the two people would sound out words...

Sp ot spot

I loved it! I remember the first time I saw MF in a movie, and I remembered him from the EC...

I don't remember BC in any of the episodes...but then maybe MF was just such a wonderful character thats why I remember him...

Thanks for the memories... I can't for Josh to get home to show him your blog and let him know his mom knows what she is talking about...for once...grin...

Bill Cosby was on there a few times. Check YouTube and see if they have any skits with him on it. He usually played a dumn character that had trouble reading. lol

Yes, I remember the "sound out the word" skits. It was great.
