Employees aka Actors

The best employees are pretenders. They act like everything their boss says is the greatest thing they’ve ever heard and his jokes are hilarious even when they are stupid.

People who are good at making people think they like them even when they hate their guts get far in life in the employment world. I’ve never been that kind of person. I'm not saying I didn't get very far, I did and was even offered a supervisor position but it wasn't because I slept with the boss.

If I don’t like someone they know it, especially in person. I don’t believe in playing social games, pretending to like people or sucking up to someone just because of their status. It is also why most of my life I have been self-employed. Respect should be earned.

Putting up a façade and giving the impression of enjoying people’s ideas even when they are terrible, makes you a great employee. But does it make you a good person?

I realize many people don’t have a choice so they play the games and go through life doing what they feel is necessary. That is a real talent.

One thing I didn’t inherit from my Native American side of the family is the ability to keep my emotions and opinions off my face. I really wish I could change that and if I make an effort can sometimes control it but not very well.

Going along with the majority of the group agreeing and following along because its the popular thing to do is not how I work. If I don't agree, I'll let you know.

I’ve never been able to pretend I like people purely based on their status in life. Respect must be earned. I don’t think we should have to act like everything is a great idea simply because they sign our paycheck. At some point in time everyone needs to know what they say or do isn’t going to work, or might even make things worse.

I don’t agree with people who give raises, advancements or bonuses because someone kisses their butt. I’ve gotten where I am in life based on my own merit, I’ve never put on a front or tried to woo anyone to get their approval. They either like me for who I am or not; it’s as simple as that.

This may make me sound a bit like a rebel but not really. I have no problem following rules as long as they make sense and everyone is held to the same list of guidelines. I don’t believe in favoritism.

Don’t get me wrong, I am nice to people even if I don’t care for them, I’m not talking about going into your supervisor’s office and telling them what you think in a rude way, I’m simply talking about the ones that are so fake it oozes from their pores and few people can stand them. When we were kids we called them the teacher’s pet.
